Kirk Whipple & Marilyn Morales, Duo Pianists / Composers

2005 Year in Photos ~ February

Kirk & Marilyn appear on the The Morning Show, WWLTV, Channel 4, New Orleans, LA.

Pictured in front (L to R): Weatherman Dave Bernard, Anchors Eric Paulsen &Sally Ann Richards and Traffic Reporter Jill Hezeau. Shortly after this, Dave moved to Miami and is now broadcasting the weather to South Floridians.

(Below) Marilyn & Kirk watch the morning newscast and a gumbo unfold. It is amazing how hungry you can get for lunch at 9:00 in the morning when you woke up at 3:00 a.m!

(Below L) The technical director once caught a fish that was "th-i-i-i-s b-i-i-i-g!"
(Below R) Chef & Mrs. Frank Davis taking a break from cooking up his special gumbo.

(Above L) Students at St. Philip Neri School in Metairie, LA ask questions at the "informance."

(Above R and below) Kirk & Marilyn conduct a master class for St. Philip Neri students.

(Below R) On the far right Music Teacher Cyprienne Stierwald listens with her piano class.

All of the activities below took place in St. Mary Parish Louisiana.

The St. Mary Parish Arts & Humanities Council brought the Whipple & Morales Duo in to present residency activities in ten schools and to perform in two public concerts.

(Below L & R) The choir at Morgan City High School joins the duo in an impromptu performance.

In these kinds of events students find that, even without prior rehearsal - or even without knowing about the actual event in advance - it is possible to make beautiful music on the spot!

(Below L) The students take it all in. (Below R) Teachers too!

(Below L) Students have fun with Kirk's homage á Ray Charles. (He's letting the sunglasses take a bow!)

(Below R) On Kirk's (stage) right is Mary Ellen Blum, and on Marilyn's (stage) left is Jackie Como. Both are members of the St. Mary Parish Arts & Humanities Council, movers and shakers in the local arts community -

and now two very good friends!

< < < This is the first time in many years that Kirk had seen these two cousins. Next to Kirk is former educator Betty Keeling and Myra White.

Below (L & R) Students at Patterson High School enjoy the duo's musical work.

(Above and below) Kirk & Marilyn take time to smell the hay with super pals Millie & Steven Minvielle. Millie is a member of the St. Mary Parish Arts & Humanities Council and was the person who spearheaded the push to bring the duo to the area. Steven is always in the wings ready to lend a hand - or maybe even quickly engineer wheel brakes for the pianos if need be! (Which he did!) One of the great things about this part of the country is that you might come in to take care of business, but you're going to leave with a few more great friends!

The duo's concert at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.

(Above & below) Whipple & Morales gave a performance at two pianos.

The duo invited local piano whiz Adam Mayon to perform.

< < < The duo thanks an audience that could not have been more appreciative!
