Tom Hayashi began his career as a drummer, backing up a wide range of musical acts in Sonoma County, California. He also spent many years with the Santa Rosa Symphony, learning some of the great orchestral repertoire and working with |

guest artists such as Murray Perahia and Rony Rogoff. Tom studied music at Cal State Hayward. Private instructors include Chuck Brown (drums), W. A. Mathieu (composition), and Denis DeCoteau of the San Francisco Ballet, (conducting). He has worked with various artists in the San Francisco bay area including keybordist / composer Kit Walker, multi-reed artist/composer Paul McCandless and trumpeter/composer Jeff Beal. Venues played include the Concord Pavilion, Fox Warfield (San Francisco), the Montreux Jazz/World Music Festival, the Russian River Jazz Festival, The Roxy (Hollywood) and many others. |

Tom recorded an album with Jeff Beal, produced by Walter Becker of Steely Dan. He co-produced, arranged and composed some songs for a Native American oriented recording project called "Koljademo" which won in the "Best Global Beat" category at the 1998 Native American Music Awards ceremony in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
