Poet and Visual Artist, has led creative writing and art workshops in California, Montana, and Holland, and initiated an arts exchange with the former USSR. Maureen was awarded seven California Arts Council Artist in Residency grants, |

and has won numerous awards and fellowships for her work including two regional National Endowment for the Arts fellowship from the Sonoma County Community Foundation; awards from the National Writers' Union, the Chester H. Jones Poetry Prize, the Florida State Univ. Richard Eberhart Prize in Poetry, and the Sue Saniel Elkind awards, and the Pushcart Poetry Prize. Maureens poems have appeared in The Caribbean Writer, Kalliope, Gulf Stream, Louisville Review, etc. Her most recent publications include poetry & prose in anthologies, Writing the Rails; My America; and an essay on censorship in Teachers & Writers Magazine. Maureen's undergraduate studies were in Art Studio and Expressive Arts from Sonoma State University; she recently completed an MA and an MFA in English: Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
